Tarkwa (W/R), November 15, GNA – Kwame Amangoua Mathias, a labourer has been remanded into prison custody for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old school girl.
Mathias aged, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement when he appeared before the Tarkwa circuit court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew.
The case has been adjourned untill November 22.
Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the court that during the late hours of September 30, 2018, the victim was playing around the Enchi branch of Higher Grounds chapel, few distance from where she lives with the grandmother.
She said Mathias who reside in the same vicinity approached the victim and asked her to buy bread for him.
However, when the victim brought the bread accused directed her to take it to his room.
Inspector Anaman said immediately the victim entered Mathias’s room, he followed her, dragged her on the floor and had sex with the victim.
After the act, Mathias ordered the victim to return home and threatened to kill her if she reveals what transpired between them to anyone, the prosecution stated.
The prosecution said on October 5, the victim’s grandmother noticed that she was bleeding from her vagina.
Upon further interrogation, the victim informed the grandmother that it was Mathias who forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
On October 6, Inspector Anaman said the victim, her grandmother and other family members traced the accused to his work place at Mile 4, a suburb of Enchi and the victim identified him as the one who defiled her.
The accused was arrested and whisked to the Enchi police station where a formal complaint was lodged.
She said the victim’s grandmother was issued with a medical report form to send the victim for treatment at the Enchi government hospital.
After investigation, Inspector Anaman said accused was charged with the crime and arraigned.
