Accra, Mar. 14, GNA – Villagers of Akantanyesua near Asuokaw near Asamankese in the Eastern region have arrested and inflicted injuries on four suspected thieves who stormed the village to steal goats.
The suspects; Hafiz Mohammed, 29, Nathaniel Pappoe, 34, Richard Tetteh, 23 and Aaron Somuah, 24, have been detained by the Police for further investigation after being treated at the Asamankese Government Hospital.
The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh in an interview with the Ghana News Agency explained that the suspects at the midnight of March 8, 2019 drove into the village a hyundai elantra and stole a number of goats.
He said, the villagers who have been monitoring the suspects and their vehicle, organized themselves and arrested them when they came back again to steal goats on March 12, 2019 at 0100 hours.
DSP Tetteh said, the police were then invited to take away the suspects.
He said Police upon arrival at the village found the suspects seriously beaten and tied up by the villagers with the hyundai elantra vehicle completely burnt.
