GOIL presents visigauges to Ghana Standards Authority

  26 Mai      31        Economie (21003),

Tema, May 25, GNA – GOIL Company Limited (GOIL) has presented 20 standard visigauges to the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to help the regulator in its fuel delivery and accuracy checks at services stations.
The equipment, which are measuring cans, is to help strengthen the capacity of the GSA to check the accuracy of fuel delivery at service stations.
The visigauges were in 20, 10 and five-litre capacity cans equipped with glass measuring tubes, padlocks and aluminium cases to ensure their durability.
Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, Chief Executive Officer of GOIL, said the donation would help the Authority in its checks and inspection of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
“One of the major mandates of GSA is measurements. They supervise the calibration of delivery pumps and periodically follow up with verification of the pumps and quantity of products served to customers,” he said.
Mr Osei-Prempeh, who is also the Group CEO of GOIL, said the company would continue to co-operate with regulatory agencies, including GSA to ensure the protection of consumers interest.
“We believe this will, in the long run, assure consumers of value for money for the products they buy,” Osei Prempeh said.
He said the items were procured at the cost of £70,000 and included five 5-litre, eight 10-litre and four 20-litre measuring cans.
Professor Alex Dodoo, Director-General of GSA, said the new items would add up to the already 17 in stock.
He said this would equip GSA to check industry players, especially in the newly-created regions, where the Authority would soon open offices.
Prof. Dodoo said, “At the moment, we have four teams who undertake this exercise. However, with these new visigauges, we will be having eight teams now to ensure there was accuracy and adherence to standards at service stations.”
