More female-led horticulture businesses benefit from HortiFresh programme

Accra, May 09, GNA- HortiFresh West Africa has certified 13 female-led horticulture business owners under the second HortiFresh Female Business Accelerator Programme through MDF West Africa, the consulting and implementing partner.

The coaching programme is aimed at strengthening the capacity of female entrepreneurs in the horticulture sector under the HortiFresh Access to Finance component.

The nine-month programme has been designed to focus on five key areas: business strategy, sales and marketing, human resource, business administration and financial management.

Mrs. Sheila Assibey-Yeboah, the Programme Manager of HortiFresh, told the GNA that it would also address key challenges in the management of horticulture businesses.

Certificates and plaques were handed out to participants.

She said there was the need to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in financial and business management.

“This will go a long way to position businesses in the horticulture sector for support from the financial sector and impact communities,” she said, and commended the participants for going through the entire process of coaching.

Mrs Assibey-Yeboah said the tool would make their businesses robust, resilient, and competitive.

She expressed the excitement that as a programme, they had positively impacted the lives of people and their businesses.

Madam Joana Chemel, the Project Coordinator at MDF West Africa, expressed appreciation to HortiFresh for the opportunity to train the businesses and commended the 13 entrepreneurs for completing the programme.

She said, this was a key milestone in getting their businesses ready to tap into opportunities available in the financial sector.

She urged all the female entrepreneurs to strictly adhere and implement the various elements of the programme in the day-to-day management of their businesses.

Madam Esther Owusu Kwantabisah, Founder of Abukay Cuisine, thanked the coaches for their encouragement and support through the programme.

She said the training had enabled her to build confidence and the right attitude and knowledge to manage her business.
