Karaga (N/R), June 08, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has advised all to eschew corruption and be ready to expose corrupt acts at all levels of society.
Mr Osman Mahama, Karaga District Director of NCCE, who gave the advice, said this would ensure that resources were prudently utilized to promote the development of the country.
He was addressing separate fora at various communities in the Karaga District as part of a sensitization exercise on the Accountability, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (ARAP) with the aim to promote good governance in the country.
The two month-long programme held from April to May with support from the European Union, was also to reduce corruption and improve accountability and compliance with the rule of law in the country.
As part of the exercise, the Karaga District Office of NCCE held a total of 27 community engagements with various interest groups in the District including 15 dawn and dusk broadcasts to ensure that all received the message in the area.
Communities reached included Shellanyili, Shebo, Pishigu, Bagurugu, Tamaligu, Binduli and Tang, and the interest groups reached comprised traditional authorities, public institutions such as schools and agencies, youth groups and religious organizations.
Mr Mahama spoke about various forms of corruption such as bribery and cronyism, saying the canker retarded development of society
He called for severe punishment for those who engaged in corrupt acts to discourage others from engaging in such acts.
