Accra – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong-Buanuh, on Saturday dispatched a high-powered delegation to console the family of Kofi Ampomah, who died through alleged police brutalities at Adomfe in the Asante Kim South District of the Ashanti Region.
The delegation, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) David Ajem Agyemang, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, met the family members to share in their pain and said the Police Administration was saddened by the unfortunate incident.
ACP Agyeman urged them to exercise patience as the Administration had launched full investigations into the matter.
He gave the assurance that the Police would, after the investigations, take the appropriate steps to ensure justice was served.
He called on the public not to lose confidence in the Police due to the incident but continue to support the law enforcers to provide them the utmost security.
Mr Kofi Appiah, the bereaved family spokesperson, said their relative was peace-loving and law-abiding and not a bad person, as had been alleged.
He said the family was waiting patiently for the Police to come out with their findings with the hope that anything leading to a miscarriage of justice would be avoided for peace to prevail.
Meanwhile the three policemen alleged to have committed the crime have been interdicted.
Earlier, in a courtesy call on Nana Adomfe Agyei, Chief of the Community, ACP Agyeman commended him for employing his leadership skills to calm the youth who got incensed over the incident.
Present at the meeting were Mr Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive, and Mr Kwaku Asante Boateng, the Member of Parliament for the area.
