Monrovia, Aug. 5 (LINA) -The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has frowned on the recent attack on Deputy Inspector General for Operations of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Malvin Sackor, by some group of citizens.

According to a statement released by the Ministry on Saturday, the MoJ said the Minister F. Musa Dean has condemned and denounced the deteriorating trend of lawlessness in the country, adding that recent waves of attacks against the police is unacceptable.

It can be recalled on Wednesday, July 31, supporters of both the ruling CDC and the Collaborating Political Parties were involved in throwing stones at one another and Deputy IG Malvin Sackor was attacked by some citizens while he was trying to calm the situation.

The release indicated that the MoJ has ordered the LNP to launch an immediate investigation on the attack and the violence that took place.

The MoJ has consistently cautioned the LNP to respect the rights of the citizenry and refrain from the use of unreasonable force, but at the same time also warning the citizens to obey and respect the work of the police as they are responsible to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, the MoJ has taken cognizance of a complaint of threats, physical attack and felonious restraint filed by the Director General of the National Bureau of Concession (NBC), Gregory Coleman.

The Ministry is calling on all parties and persons of interest to cooperate with the investigation and has directed the LNP to report its findings as soon as possible.
