Mathew Kudjo – A star in the making

Accra, Sept. 2, GNA – Mathew Kudjo, of Great Somax, was the toast of fans at the just ended Under-16 Football Tournament, organised by Baby Jet Promotions.

Kudjo, 16, is indeed a star in the making, as he was the brightest spot in the competition, with his amazing skills and helped his side to become the overall winners.

It was no surprise, he emerged the overall Best Player after the competition, at the Asamoah Gyan Soccer Complex in Accra.

The 16 year old, in an interview with GNA Sports said, he was grateful to God, for guiding him through the competition, hopes to remain discipline to reach greater heights.

For his amazing skills, he was nick named « Messi » by his colleagues, as he is compared to the great Argentine and Barcelona player – Lionel Messi.

Kudjo, admitted, the Barcelona icon is his mentor and hopes to follow his exploits as he aims to be a great football star in future.

« I do what Messi does, he is my mentor and that is why my mates call me Messi and I wear the number 10 jersey and that brings a lot of responsibility on men in each game.

« I hope to reach the level of the Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan and am grateful to him for giving me this opportunity, » he said.

The young striker who scored a hat-trick in the competition, said he hopes to achieve more in future and become a global football icon.

In all 16 teams participated in the competition, with five teams from Togo, Nigeria and Cote D’ Ivoire.
