Praia, Sep 22 (Inforpress) – The Popular Party (PP) blamed the central and local government for the damage caused by the rains of September 12 and asked for the intervention of the Attorney General to determine the responsibility for the construction works with public money.
In a press conference held this Sunday, at the end of his biweekly meeting, the vice president of the national PP directorate, Felisberto Semedo, said that the rains of September 12 exposed the weaknesses in the construction of public works, at the same time recommended the Civil Protection to take a “more preventive” position.
The vice-president stated that, just as the requalification works of the seafront, squares and bridges in Ribeira da Barca (municipality of Santa Catarina) or the collapse of the Picos protection wall, the various damaged infrastructures in the municipality of Praia reflect the poor quality of the works, built to “deceive the citizens”.
Felisberto Semedo considered “serious” the fact that the municipalities do not hold the contractors responsible for the poor quality of works, for fear of being blamed for public damages, motivated by the lack of inspection and condemned the authorities for the lack of silting up of the streams and the poor quality of construction.
