Cidade da Praia, Jul 17 (Inforpress) – The Santiago and Santo Antão squads are aiming to win the fifth and first Independence Cup, respectively, in the final held today at Orlando Rodrigues Stadium in Tarrafal de São Nicolau.
The two teams qualified for the final of the twelfth edition of the Inter-Islands Tournament by eliminating the Boa Vista and Fogo teams, respectively, in the semi-finals of last Sunday in the two stadiums in São Nicolau.
At Di Deus Stadium, in the city of Ribeira Brava, the Santo Antão team beat Boa Vista 4-2. The Santiago team managed to pass the final after beating the Fogo by 5-4 on penalties after a tie, to a ball, during the regular time.
Speaking to Inforpress, Santiago coach Humberto Bettencourt said he hoped his team would make a good game. According to the coach, the main concern was to recover the players from the match of the semi-finals, played on Sunday.
