MONROVIA, April 28 (LINA) – President George Manneh Weah was on Tuesday, April 27, among world leaders who attended the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Weah, who left the country early Tuesday morning, is expected to join other West African and world leaders in the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown to witness and participate in activities commemorating that West African state’s independence.
While away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel F. McGill, was acting as chair of the cabinet in consultation with the vice president, Madam Jewel Howard Taylor, and in contact with the President of Liberia.
The Liberian Chief Executive, according to an Executive Mansion release, returned home later on April 27, 2021.
Sierra Leone gained its independence from the United Kingdom on April 27, 1961.
